So, since at least James is still reading this, I thought I might try another post while Jonas is busy using his baby gym, which sadly is not a miniaturised treadmill, weights etc. but in fact a mat with brightly coloured toys suspended over it, the aim of which is for baby to reach and kick at the toys. What he is actually doing at the moment is staring rather suspiciously at the multi-coloured hedgehog and making an odd noise at it, at least I think it's a hedgehog, I've never seen a pink, green yellow and blue hedgehog, but that's the animal it most closely resembles.
Anyway, it's hard to think of much to blog about these days as pretty much my life revolves around Jonas, every day I spend every minute with him, doing the things you do with babies (nappies, feeding, bathing, singing etc.) and going to different baby groups, these serve 2 purposes:
1) They get us out of the house, if the two of us spend too much time alone indoors we go a little crazy, this may sound odd if you don't have kids and perhaps have this amazing picture in your head of mothers and babies gazing lovingly at each other all day. Admittedly there are moments where I just watch him in amazement, but too long in the same room with no one else to break the monotony and it all gets a bit boring for both of us, there's only so many times I can sing Twinkle, Twinkle, and only so many times he can hear it!
2)To help him learn about the outside world and socialisation, with the aim that he will be a much better socialiser than his parents and understand about social conventions and things and not want to sit inside on the computer all day.
It's a bit early to say if number 2 is working, but number 1 definitely is.
Apparently the hedgehog has upset him now, so I must go. Hope to blog again soon, perhaps I'll even move onto a topic other than babies.
