Wow, you probably think I'm dead or something, it's been so long. You may even have been keeping track of my gaming hours to check that I was still alive and then suddenly they stopped too! So I suppose I should tell you what I've been up to, after all, if I haven't been playing World of Warcraft, then I must have developed something to be spending all of my free time doing. The answer is, I got a PS2, Lego Star Wars II and also this
for Christmas. So as you can see, I don't have much free time on my hands.
Before that, what was I doing? Well, I've been watching various DVDs, such as Monk
. I had my birthday, which was good. For my birthday I had a surprise outing which was exciting, I had no idea where we were going, but it turned out to be The NEC
to see Madness
including a posh meal beforehand. It was brilliant, Madness are great.
It seems that this is the time of year when we talk about what music we liked last year, at least according to Helen
and who am I to argue with them? So here we go, with some fairly random musical observations of what I can remember from the year, bearing in mind that I'm often far behind, so albums I discovered last year, may not in fact be new :-) also, I'm not good at saying why things are good, or who they sound like, so pretty much this is just a list of what I've liked.Monster - The Automatic
. Most notably missing from either of their lists was the best song of 2006. Okay, maybe not the best, but I did obsessively like it for a while, and it still makes me smile. I did borrow their album from The library,
but found that the rest of the songs sounded kind of similar, but not as good. So I just bought the one track off Itunes.Snow Patrol
- Everything they've done. I bought one album last year: "Final Straw" and have ordered "Eyes Open."Scissor Sisters
Ta Da is a great album, but the problem is that the best song is first. I love I don't feel like dancing,
ironically, though presumably designed in that way, it makes my feet start bouncing (the closest I get to dancing).Arctic Monkeys
I loved these, but it does seem to have been a very swift affair, suddenly I realise that I haven't listened to any of their music for months, really I'm not sure I should have bought the album, as nothing was as good as I bet that you look good on the dancefloor.
I just checked my most frequently played list and it seems that my personal album winners for the year are: Lordi - The Arockalypse
and Razorlight - Up all Night.
I should probably discuss good books of the year, but I'm bored of blogging now, so maybe I'll do that later. I'll try not to leave 3 months between posts again.
