Well, I joined
Facebook. You're probably thinking I got over my suspicion and paranoia quickly, well, you'd be wrong. I still think it's very odd. However I decided that really, what harm could it do to give them details which I'm not really bothered about whether they're given to people or not? I mean, I blog about where I live, what I do etc. as long as I don't put details that I'd rather keep private on there does it matter? Why the decision to join? Curiosity I guess, I wanted to see what the appeal was. I still find it odd that they want me to put my email password in and clearly I won't be doing that. Plus I find it strange that they make you join a network based on where you live. Why would I want to be linked to everyone who lives in Leicester? I tried not to join the network, but it turned out that without doing so I wasn't able to join my church's group on there. I do like the fact that your profile isn't freely available to everyone, though again find it odd that it seems to default to being freely available to anyone who lives in Leicester (though not contact details) so my old school "friends" can't look up and see what I'm up to without adding me as a friend, yet anyone who happens to live in the same city as me (and thus more able to be a stalker) can? Having said that what do I care if the people from my old school can't see what I'm up to? I'm not really bothered about reliving the worst days of my life.
